  1. It's a PERFECT exercise for tennis elbow! "If you're having pain on the elbow on the outside of your elbow when you grip a coffee mug or pick something up with your hands — that is almost always tennis elbow," says Barton Bishop, a physical therapist at Sport & Spine Rehab in Rockville, Md. "Bishop says the benefit of the FlexBar, which costs between $16 and $33, over traditional hand weights is that it helps people strengthen without recreating the symptoms. He says weights can overwork the muscle and sometimes leads to more pain [which is exactly what was happening to the female subject in this video!]. The Thera-Band FlexBar is ideal for the injured muscle in tennis elbow. The exercises enable the muscle to lengthen and contract simultaneously. And the FlexBar makes it simple to do this kind of stretch. It's a perfect exercise!"

  2. "I had recurring tennis elbow from dethatching my lawn with a hand rake 5 years ago. My orthopedic surgeon told me I had torn some of the rubber band-like parts of my tendon that attached the forearm muscle to the elbow bone. He sold me a clamp like strap to ease the pain. It worked but the pain always came back when I used the arm a little too much. Very frustrating. Thera-Band works! After using it for just a few days the tendon no longer ached. I can lift weights now with no after pain. I started with the green and now have moved to the blue. Highly recommend this product, even if you can only use the lowest one. It will build up your strength. I am 76 and now do things I would not have been able to do." - George F.

  4. From Chad,"I own both the Red and Green. To my total amazement, this worked. I went from barely being able to turn a door handle and do basic things, to getting back to full function in a matter of weeks. I'm a skeptic, but had gotten to the point where I did not want to go down the path of getting shots, or even think about surgery. The reason behind how this can work for some cases of tennis elbow made sense to me, and based on other reviews I gave it a try. Started off with the lower resistance, then worked up to the next size. I continued to use these for several weeks after most symptoms were gone, just for good measure. I have not had to use these since. But will never get rid of them either in case I have an injury like this again. I would buy these again in a second.

As far as how my tennis elbow came about. I was installing some joist supports in our garage attic using a standard battery powered drill to drive large bolts. And the angle I had to hold the driver, compounded with also the turning action I was doing with my elbow, was a recipe for disaster. I think it was only a day or so after doing this, my elbow was shot. It was like this for months. The strange thing about this sort of injury is you can do some things just fine, and other things were so painful. For example, I was able to lift weights (deadlift, squat, row, etc.) with minimal issues. As long as it didn't involve rotating my arm much. But as stated previously, could not turn a door handle or pick up/move very light objects. But again, this is based on the movement involved.
